Around 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, producing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.

Meanwhile, around 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations responded to 598 calls for help across the area, mainly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At the height on Sunday, over 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both states.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.
