Although the access route with Egypt opens soon, aid groups confront major obstacles providing aid to the northern region, the area worst hit by food shortages, according to experts.

Access Issues

Major routes are virtually blocked due to extensive devastation across the conflict-affected area – or continue to be occupied by military units. Any vehicle that breaks down is almost certainly quickly plundered.

The primary crossing, the main entry point to the northern region, devastated by multiple years of war, has been inactive for many days, and authorities have told NGOs in Gaza that there are no short-term arrangements to open the entry location, according to aid workers.

An organization head located in the urban center said the requirements in what used to be the area's active economic and cultural hub were "enormous".

"We see hope and hope but there needs to be quick improvement on the access routes. There has been no substantial progress on the ground yet," the representative stated.

"We are still getting a small quantity of support [and] we are only starting to comprehend the degree of devastation. Multiple thoroughfares are completely covered in rubble ... there is hardly any residence that is undamaged. We see destruction and unexploded bombs throughout the area."

Ongoing Changes

In recent days, relief groups said modest volumes of necessary propane entered Gaza for the first time in multiple months, along with shipments of wheat, rice and farm products. The recent deliveries sent market costs decreasing.

In the central town, a community member said there had been noticeable change since the ceasefire.

"The markets are full of supplies, produce, and produce, although the costs are remaining elevated and not affordable for everyone," the person commented.

Cold Season Preparations

"The crucial necessities now, specifically due to the arrival of winter, are to have a tent to protect us from the cold and cold-weather clothing because the stores do not have adequate garments for us or, if they exist, they are very few and very expensive."

Nine organization-assisted bread-making centers in various locations have begun working again since the peace agreement.

Aid Delivery

Transport were stated to have entered the humanitarian corridor through Israeli territory to Gaza during recent days, though precise counts were uncertain.

The country's news organization stated that the day's humanitarian shipments would include nutritional supplies, healthcare equipment, fuel, propane and equipment to repair essential services.

"Relief supplies continues to enter the Gaza Strip through the border access point and additional routes after safety verification," an government spokesperson said.

Allocation Complications

But counting the volume of transports could be deceptive, warned an expert from a relief agency. "It's crucial to understand the contents of the trucks and their loading status for it to be a truly significant measurement," the expert added.

Business entities are transporting fleets of trucks carrying sweets, carbonated beverages and light food, which have minimal health benefits, while urgent medical support for children or individuals who have gone without adequate food for multiple years are unavailable.

Treatment Situation

In Gaza City, only a handful of nutritional outpatient clinics are operating, compared with many in earlier this year.

Many agencies have millions of dollars worth of supplies warehoused near the territory awaiting entry. An international organization assisting Palestinians across the area for many years has multiple months of supplies of nutrition for everyone in Gaza in place to be delivered.

"We maintain the resources, the instruments and the skills ... we only require the access," said a relief official, who recently came back from Gaza.

Governmental Factors

A proposed plan outlines that "full" aid should enter Gaza and be allocated through international organizations and the Red Crescent, without disruption from any armed factions or national security.
